Summer Institutes

2013 PIER Institutes Application

Application Deadline is May 15, 2013. Payment must be received by May 22, 2013.

Programs in International Educational Resources (PIER) of the MacMillan Center draws upon Yale University’s extensive resources to develop and implement programs, services, and resources designed to advance understanding of international and world regional issues through outreach to education, business, media, and the public. PIER works in coordination with area studies programs at the MacMillan Center, 5 of which have been designated Title VI National Resource Centers for international and foreign language education by the U.S. Department of Education, in providing public access to materials and resources developed by our programs to teachers and educational organizations nationally. Because we value the creative insight and experience of our Summer Institute participants and believe in the strength of diverse educators sharing their ideas with one another to better international education as a whole, we ask that all Summer Institute participants create and share educational and professional development materials and resources. This is a responsibility that PIER Summer Institute participants agree to undertake as part of their participation in the program. Our objective is to expand understanding of and involvement in international education. Examples of appropriate resources, materials, and activities created as a product of the Summer Institute might be presentations to colleagues or community groups, innovative teaching methods, units or lesson plans, creative audio visual materials, publications or media releases, etc. In particular, any educational materials developed for use in the classroom that can be shared nationally with other educators via the PIER website would be much appreciated. Additional information will be provided upon acceptance to the program.

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 15, 2013. Applications received after May 15, 2013 will be accepted only if space is available. Applications are processed on a rolling basis as received. Applicants accepted for the program will be notified ASAP and will receive further information about the registration for the Summer Institutes at that time.

Applications can be submitted online or download the pdf and forward via e-mail, fax or mail.
