PIER works with Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS) to host “World Refugee Day: The Art of Survival” at Luce Hall on the Yale University campus every spring. IRIS is a refugee resettlement agency that both resettles refugees in the New Haven area and provides services to refugees (job assistance, education and case management). World Refugee Day is one of IRIS’s largest events, and PIER is a co-sponsor. The event is an evening for the community filled with music, dance, sculpture, and painting, with the goal of allowing refugees to use the arts as a medium of self-expression.
