Full-Day Field Trips at Yale or at Your School
In the cultural simulation game “Heelotia”, K-12 students can learn what it feels like to move from one country with its own culture to another country with different customs and a different language. Students who engage in this cross-cultural simulation begin to understand what it feels like to be a cultural outsider, and how to respect cultural diversity.
Next, students learn about real life experiences of crossing from one cultural setting to another from international members of the Yale community or from your own community.
Finally, in the afternoon, students learn about the cultural contexts of various games and activities around the world while engaging in them.
