Part I. Workshop at Yale and NYC
July 5-9, 2011
This Summer Institute will explore the theme of Colonial Latin America to understand the ways in which the colonial period contributed to the modern Latin American identity. The K-12 and post-secondary educators will participate in a dynamic and intensive week long workshop that will build upon the expertise of scholars from diverse disciplines specializing in Latin America.
Part II. Optional Field Trip: Dominican Republic
July 10-17, 2011
The week long field trip will provide the opportunity to deepen educators’ knowledge about colonial Latin America as they participate in lectures, discussions, architectural tours, and guided visits with experts to archaeological sites, art museums, architectural sites, local communities and plantation zones.
